ICD-Code I23.6: Thrombosis of atrium, auricular appendage, and ventricle as current complications following acute myocardial infarction

Blood has clotted inside your heart after a heart attack.

A heart attack involves parts of the heart not getting enough oxygen-rich blood. As a result, the affected heart tissue gets damaged or dies.

If a heart attack has damaged the heart, it may no longer be able to pump properly. As a result, the blood in the heart can sometimes no longer flow properly and clots. If blood clots inside the heart, it can further impair the heart’s function. Small pieces of clotted blood may also reach other parts of the body. The pieces can then block blood vessels there.
