I82.81: Embolism and thrombosis of jugular vein

You have blood clots in a jugular vein.

Jugular veins carry the blood from the head and neck back to the heart. When there is a blood clot, the affected vein can be narrowed or even blocked. If less or no blood is flowing through the vein to the heart, the neck often swells up at the affected site. This can be painful and cause difficulties swallowing. It can also cause headaches.

Blood clots can form if, for example, the vascular wall has been injured. Blood clots can also be caused by other disorders.
