J35.2: Hypertrophy of adenoids

Your adenoids are enlarged.

The throat begins behind the mouth and nose. The throat connects the mouth and nose with the trachea (windpipe) and gullet. The adenoids are in the top part of the throat, at the transition of the nose into the throat.

The adenoids are part of our body’s immune system.

In your case, the cells in the adenoids have multiplied. The adenoids have thus become enlarged. As a result, breathing through the nose may be difficult.
