K62.4: Stenosis of anus and rectum
The last segment of your intestines or anus has become narrowed.
The last segment of the large intestine consists of 2 sections. These 2 sections are the rectum and anal canal. The feces are collected in the rectum. The feces then move through the short anal canal to the anus. Feces are excreted through the anus.
There are various causes for narrowing of the intestines or anus. For example, your intestines or anus may have been inflamed for a considerable time. That can occur for instance after a radiation treatment or operation. The affected segment of intestine may then develop scarring and become narrower.
This may cause constipation or problems during bowel movements.
