K63.1: Perforation of intestine (nontraumatic)

You have a rupture in your intestines.

The intestines are like a tube. There is a hollow space on the inside. The intestinal wall lies around this hollow space.

A rupture has developed in your intestinal wall. Such a rupture can develop if the intestinal wall is inflamed or damaged. Because of the rupture, fluids can flow out of the intestines into the abdomen. Such fluids can for instance be digestive fluids and feces. The abdomen may then become severely inflamed.

You may then have severe abdominal pain and a high temperature. The abdomen may feel very hard. Your heart may also beat rapidly. You may moreover break out in sweats.
