K66.1: Haemoperitoneum

Bleeding has occurred in your abdominal cavity.

The abdominal organs are located in the abdominal cavity. The inside of the abdominal cavity is covered by a thin membrane. This thin membrane also surrounds all the organs in the abdomen. The organs can move against each other thanks to this thin membrane. Among the abdominal organs are the liver, the stomach, the intestines, and the spleen. The aorta also passes through the abdominal cavity.

In your case, there has been bleeding in the abdominal cavity. Bleeding can occur in the abdomen when abdominal organs are injured or if blood vessels rupture. That can occur for instance after injuries or operations.
