K75.0: Abscess of liver

Your liver has become inflamed.

The liver is an important organ on the top right of the abdomen. For example, it helps with blood clotting and detoxifying the body. Nutrients from food are processed in the liver.

The liver may become inflamed for various reasons. Pathogens for instance can access the liver via the blood vessels. That may occur for instance when other organs in the abdomen are inflamed. It is also possible that pathogens from the bile ducts will get into the liver. That can occur when the bile ducts are blocked and bile fluid goes up into the liver. As a result of the inflammation, a cavity filled with pus has formed in your liver.

If your liver is inflamed, you may have abdominal pain or a high temperature. Sometimes you may also have a feeling of pressure in your abdomen.
