K86.3: Pseudocyst of pancreas
You have one or more cysts (cavities) in your pancreas.
The pancreas is located in the upper abdomen. It regulates the sugar content in the blood and forms substances for digestion, for example.
One or more cysts have formed in your pancreas. The reason for this can be inflammation of the pancreas, for example. These cysts are surrounded by a thin membrane composed of scar tissue and contain fluid. Small cavities may not cause any problems. These cysts can also reduce in size by themselves. However, if the cysts are very large, then they can press on the surrounding organs. As a result, you may have abdominal pain. In the body, certain proteins ensure that processes run better or more quickly. These proteins are also known as enzymes. In the fluid in the cavities there are certain enzymes that aid digestion. If the wall of these cavities tears, the enzymes can damage the tissue of the pancreas or other tissue.
