The pancreas is located in the upper abdomen. It regulates the sugar content in the blood and forms substances for digestion, for example.
An abnormal connection has formed between your pancreas and your intestine or some other tissue in your abdomen. That can occur for instance after injuries or inflammations. The substances for the digestion can get through this type of abnormal connection into the intestine or into other tissue. As a result, this tissue can get digested and damaged.
