K93.1: Megacolon in Chagas disease
You have Chagas disease. As a result, segments of your intestines are severely enlarged.
With Chagas disease, you have been infected with specific pathogens. These pathogens are usually transmitted by certain bugs. The bugs occur especially in simple dwellings in the country. The illness occurs mainly in Central and South America.
The illness may go unnoticed for a long time. After a while, the skin may change or the eyelids may swell up. Fever or diarrhea are also possible sometimes. If the illness goes on for a long time, certain organs may become damaged.
In your case, the disease has damaged the large intestine. Your large intestine has thus become severely enlarged. If the large intestine is severely enlarged, you may for instance have problems with your bowel movement.
