You have scarring on your scalp. New hair can no longer grow there.

Your scalp is scarred. As a result, the hair roots have also been damaged so that new hair will no longer be able to grow. The hairless patches in between the normal, hirsute areas often look like “footsteps in the snow”. The hairless patches can spread further.
