L94.3: Sclerodactyly

The skin on your fingers is hardened.

This condition causes skin around the fingers to stiffen and tighten. The skin tightens firmly around the knuckles. This is why the fingers look thin. The fingers are also pale and no longer have any hair. It may not be possible to move the fingers as well as normal. Fingers may then not get enough blood and nutrients supplied to them. This can cause wounds. The wounds often heal poorly and can also become inflamed. The fingernails may also change.

This condition causes the connective tissue of the skin to change. Connective tissue is made up of fine fibers. It is supposed to support and strengthen the skin, for example.
