M25.16: Fistula of joint Lower leg
A duct (fistula) has formed in the tissue of your knee.
This type of duct can connect the inside of a joint to the skin. The duct may also lead to another joint or to a bone. Ducts like this can form due to inflammation or after operations, for example.
The knee joint connects the thighbone (femur) to the lower leg. The kneecap is also part of the knee joint. There are 2 bones in the lower leg. These bones are called the tibia (shinbone) and fibula. There is also a joint immediately below the knee joint between the tibia and fibula. There may also be a duct like this in the joint just below your knee.
