M25.41: Effusion of joint Shoulder region
You have accumulations of fluid in your shoulder joint.
There are 3 bones and 2 joints in the shoulder area. The bones are the collarbone, the shoulder blade, and the humerus. The shoulder joint connects the humerus to the shoulder blade. A second joint connects the shoulder blade to the collarbone. The collarbone is also connected to the sternum by another joint. You may also have an accumulation of fluid in the joint between your shoulder blade and your collarbone, or in the joint between your collarbone and your sternum.
Fluid can accumulate in the joint if the joint is worn or inflamed, for example. When fluid collects in the joint, the joint may swell up. The joint concerned may also be painful.
