M61.07: Myositis ossificans traumatica Ankle and foot
You have ossifications in muscles in your ankle or foot.
When muscle tissue gets damaged, various substances are released into the tissue. Some of these substances can cause bone to form. Over a period of several weeks, muscle cells can then turn to bone.
Your ossifications have occurred following a muscle injury. A muscle injury of this type can occur through an accident or an operation, for example. Muscles can also ossify when they are paralyzed. Muscles can become paralyzed if the brain or nerves are damaged.
Ossifications can cause hard areas in the affected muscles. This can cause pain in that location. It may also be that you are no longer able to move the affected areas of your body properly.
