M67.0: Short Achilles tendon (acquired)

Your Achilles tendon has shortened.

The Achilles tendon connects the muscles in the calf with the foot. When you tense the muscles in your calf, you can point your toes downward. When you raise your toes towards your nose, you stretch the Achilles tendon. You can feel your Achilles tendon at the back of your leg, just above your heel.

The Achilles tendon may shorten for various reasons. The Achilles tendon can shorten due to long-term over-use, or if the foot is not being moved enough. It can also shorten if you wear high-heeled shoes a lot.

When the Achilles tendon shortens, the foot and the back of the lower leg may be painful. It may be harder to raise the toes.
