N15.11: Perinephric abscess
There has been a buildup of pus next to your kidney.
There are normally 2 kidneys in the body. They filter blood and create urine. They thus help to detoxify the body. Furthermore, the kidneys regulate the blood pressure and salt content in the blood, among other things.
A buildup of pus is mostly caused when the kidney or the tissue around the kidney becomes inflamed. This inflammation may be due to pathogens, for example. A thin covering may form around the pus.
You are likely to have a high temperature and feel very ill. People often experience pain at their sides or abdominal pain. They may sometimes feel a swelling under their skin.
