N41.1: Chronic prostatitis

Your prostate has been inflamed for a considerable time.

The prostate forms part of the male genital organs. The prostate sits below the bladder and encircles the urethra. The prostate is also known as the prostate gland. Some of the seminal fluid is formed in the prostate.

Your prostate has been inflamed for a considerable time. If the prostate is inflamed for a long period of time, pathogens may be the cause. Sometimes, however, no pathogens are detected. If so, the cause of the inflammation is unknown.

If the prostate is inflamed over a long period of time, this can cause various symptoms. Possible symptoms include a burning sensation in the urethra, pain in the pelvis or pain when urinating. Erections may also become weaker.
