N48.39: Priapism, unspecified

Your penis was stiff for several hours.

The erectile tissue of the penis ensures that the penis can become erect when it is stimulated. When this happens the erectile tissue of the penis becomes engorged with blood. You have had an erection for several hours without any stimulation. It may be that too much blood is flowing into the erectile tissue of the penis. Or it may be that the blood can no longer drain out of the erectile tissue of the penis. Your penis may feel very tight or hurt.

There are many different reasons why an erection continues for several hours. It may be caused by medication, drugs or a number of diseases, for example. It is also possible that no cause is found.
