N61: Inflammatory disorders of breast
Your breast is inflamed.
The breast is made up of fatty tissue, connective tissue and the mammary gland. Milk is produced in the mammary gland during and after pregnancy so that the child can be fed.
When the breast is inflamed, the skin over the mammary gland may be reddened and hot. This usually causes sharp pains and the breast will feel swollen. If the breast is inflamed, a pus-filled cavity may form in the breast.
