N75.1: Abscess of Bartholin gland
A pus-filled sac (abscess) has formed in a gland near the entrance to your vagina.
The vagina is tubular and leads from the outside to the uterus. There are two glands at the entrance to the vagina. Each gland is roughly the size of a pea. The glands produce a fluid when you are sexually aroused.
An abscess can form when a gland is inflamed due to pathogens.
The affected part usually becomes severely swollen and reddened. The swelling can be very painful.
