N76.80: Fournier’s gangrene in females
You have severe inflammation in your vagina or external genital organs.
The internal female genital organs include the uterus, the fallopian tubes and ovaries. The vagina is also one of the internal genital organs and goes from the uterus to the outside of the body. The external female genital organs include the labia, the clitoris and the skin around the vagina.
Inflammation on the vagina or the external genital organs occurs when pathogens enter the tissue and multiply there. Pathogens can enter tissue through small injuries, for example. Pathogens may also multiply more than usual as a result of certain types of medication.
In your case the tissue is severely inflamed. As a result, wounds can occur and the skin sometimes turns black. You will often also have sharp pains and a high temperature. In most cases, you will be severely ill as a result of the inflammation.
