N82.80: Pouch-vaginal fistula after ilial pouch anal anastomosis

An abnormal opening (fistula) has developed between your vagina and your ilial pouch (artificial rectum).

The rectum is located at the end of the intestinal tract. The feces are collected in the rectum. At some point, your rectum has been replaced with a pouch of tissue called an ilial pouch. This type of pouch may be made of material from your body or other material.

A fistula may develop between two organs following surgery or injury, for example. It may also develop in the case of persistent inflammation.

This opening can cause various symptoms. You may have pain at the affected site. Air or intestinal contents are sometimes released through the vagina. The fistula may also become inflamed. In that case you may have a high temperature, and pus may appear in the fistula.
