O69.1: Labour and delivery complicated by cord around neck, with compression

During the birth problems occurred because the umbilical cord was wrapped around your child's neck.

During pregnancy the umbilical cord connects the child's blood circulation to the mother's. The child receives nutrients and oxygen via the blood vessels in the umbilical cord.

In the mother’s stomach the child turns in various positions. As a result, the umbilical cord can get wrapped around the neck. When the umbilical cord gets wrapped around the neck, it may get tightened during the birth. As a result, the child may no longer be supplied with sufficient oxygen. The umbilical cord got wrapped around your child's neck and it got tightened during the birth.
