O86.2: Urinary tract infection following delivery
After the birth of your child, you have an inflammation in your urinary tract.
The urinary passages include the ureters, bladder and urethra. Urine flows from both kidneys into the bladder via the ureters. The urethra channels the urine outward from the bladder. The urinary tract can become inflamed if bacteria from the intestine get into the bladder via the urethra. This can cause urinary urgency and burning when urinating. The inflammation may also spread through the ureter to the kidneys. You can then get a high temperature and pain.
