O92.01: Retracted nipple associated with childbirth With mention of difficulties latching on
You have an inverted nipple.
The breast is made up of fatty tissue, connective tissue and the mammary gland. Milk is produced in the mammary gland during and after pregnancy so that the child can be fed. The milk from the breast passes to the nipple through the milk ducts.
When a nipple is inverted the milk ducts in the breast are shorter than usual. As a result, the nipple points inward, either constantly or temporarily. Due to the inverted nipple you are having difficulties breastfeeding your child.
