O99.1: Other diseases of the blood and blood-forming organs and certain disorders involving the immune mechanism complicating pregnancy, childbirth and the puerperium
You have a disease of the blood, the body’s immune system or the organs that form blood.
Blood is made up of a liquid part and different blood cells, among other things. The liquid part of the blood is also called blood plasma. Blood plasma is made up of water, among other things. Blood plasma carries nutrients and endogenous substances, such as messenger substances. The blood cells include the red blood cells, the white blood cells and the platelets. The red blood cells carry oxygen from the lungs throughout the body. White blood cells are part of the body’s immune system. They fight pathogens. Platelets are important for blood clotting. The blood is mainly formed inside the bones.
Your disease makes your pregnancy, the birth or childbed more difficult. You may also already have had this kind of disease before your pregnancy. The disease can then also have got worse as a result of your pregnancy, the birth or childbed.
