P13.0: Fracture of skull due to birth injury

A bone in the child’s skull was broken during the birth.

The bones in the skull are called cranial bones. Many different cranial bones together form the framework for the head and face. When there are difficulties during the birth, a vacuum cup or a forceps may need to be used. In the process, a bone may break in the child’s skull. But a bone in the skull can also break when tools are not used.
