P71.8: Other transitory neonatal disorders of calcium and magnesium metabolism
The magnesium level or calcium level in the child's blood has temporarily changed.
Magnesium is one of the minerals that are taken in via food. While in the womb, the child gets minerals via the mother's blood and the placenta. Magnesium is important for the body, so that muscles and nerves can work properly. Calcium is also one of the minerals. Calcium for instance is important for bone stability. Furthermore, we need calcium, among other things, for our muscles and nerves.
