Q43.42: Duplication of rectum
You have an extra part of the rectum. This condition is congenital, which means you were born with it.
The last segment of the large intestine consists of 2 sections. These 2 sections are the rectum and anal canal. The feces are collected in the rectum. The feces then move through the short anal canal to the anus. Feces are excreted through the anus. You have an extra part of the rectum.
An extra part of the intestine can press on other organs in the abdomen, for example. The extra part of the intestine may also become inflamed. You can then have various problems. You may be able to feel a swelling in the abdomen, for example. You may also have problems with bowel movements.
