Q62.4: Agenesis of ureter
A ureter has not developed properly.
The ureter is a thin, muscular tube in the abdomen. There is usually one ureter on each side. The urine flows from the kidney, via the ureter, to the bladder.
While developing in the womb, many different types of tissue develop in the body. The organs and body parts develop out of the various types of tissue. If tissue fails to develop properly, defects can occur. With this defect, it may be that the tissue for the ureter has not formed. The ureter may also be only partly formed.
