Q89.1: Congenital malformations of adrenal gland
Your adrenal glands have not developed properly.
There are 2 adrenal glands in the body. The adrenal glands are at the top of the kidneys. In the adrenal glands there are different areas, each with different tasks. For example, various messenger substances and sex hormones are produced in these areas. The messengers from the adrenal glands affect the blood pressure and the level of sugar and minerals in the blood, for example.
While developing in the womb, many different types of tissue develop in the body. The organs and body parts develop out of the various types of tissue.
If the adrenal glands fail to develop properly, different health problems can occur. The health problems depend, for example, on which part of the adrenal glands has not developed properly.
