Q93.2: Chromosome replaced with ring or dicentric
The structure of your chromosomes has changed.
Somatic cells usually hold a complete blueprint of your body. This blueprint consists of genetic information. The genetic information is encrypted in the chromosomes. In humans, somatic cells usually have 23 pairs of chromosome, so 46 chromosomes in all. There are two different types of chromosomes. They are autosomes and sex chromosomes.
With this change, pieces of one or more autosomes are broken off. So the autosomes concerned have a changed shape. The broken pieces might go missing. In this case the genetic information is incomplete. When the genetic information is incomplete, it can cause problems.
Additional indicator
On medical documents, the ICD code is often appended by letters that indicate the diagnostic certainty or the affected side of the body.
- G: Confirmed diagnosis
- V: Tentative diagnosis
- Z: Condition after
- A: Excluded diagnosis
- L: Left
- R: Right
- B: Both sides
