R19.80: Abdominal compartment syndrome
Pressure in your abdomen has greatly increased.
The pressure in the abdomen can increase significantly if, for example, a large amount of fluid or air collects in the abdomen. A large amount of fluid can collect in the abdomen after injuries and bleeds. A large amount of fluid can also collect when there is an inflammation in the abdomen or in the case of blood poisoning. When the pressure in the abdomen increases significantly, the abdomen can feel very tight and be painful. The high pressure in the abdomen can press the abdominal organs towards the chest. This can make breathing more difficult. The high pressure can damage the abdominal organs. In that case, you may be seriously ill.
