S05.0: Injury of conjunctiva and corneal abrasion without mention of foreign body
You have injured your eye.
The injury has affected your conjunctiva or cornea. The transparent conjunctiva covers the eye and the inside of the eyelids. Along with the tears, the conjunctiva forms a liquid film on the eye. Together, the conjunctiva, the eyelids, and the liquid film on the eye all protect the eye from external agents. The conjunctiva also helps defend against pathogens. The cornea is located at the front of the eye. It is transparent and curved. The curvature focuses light in the eye. This is vital to be able to see clearly.
When the eye gets injured, it may be painful. The eye may turn red. It can impair vision in the eye concerned.
