You have injured your gullet.
An injury like this occurs, for example, as a result of an accident or a violent blow to the chest.
The oesophagus or gullet connects the mouth with the stomach. It is a muscular tube. The muscles in the oesophagus move food into the stomach.
If you have damaged your gullet, you usually have pain. You may also vomit blood.
