S36.82: Injury: Mesentery

You have an injury in the suspensory ligament of the organs in the abdomen.

There are many vital organs and tissue in your abdomen. If the abdomen is injured, these organs or tissue may get damaged too. The abdomen can be injured as a result of an accident or a blow, for example.

In the abdomen there is a sort of suspensory ligament for certain organs. These organs include the stomach and the intestine, for example. The suspensory ligament stabilizes the organ in the abdomen though it can be moved. Blood vessels and nerves for the organ also normally run through the suspensory ligament.

When tissue in the organs’ suspensory ligament has been injured, there can be a range of symptoms. The symptoms depend on the extent of the damage. For example, you may have abdominal pains.

Injured tissue may also bleed. Sometimes blood collects in the tissue. If the bleeding is heavy, you can have circulation problems. This can sometimes be life-threatening.
