S42.12: Fracture of scapula: Acromion
You have broken your shoulder blade.
The shoulder blade is a flat bone that lies to the back of your upper chest. There is a right and left shoulder blade. As part of the shoulder joint, the shoulder blade connects the upper body to the arm. The shoulder blade is involved in many movements in the shoulder area. The acromion is a bony protrusion at the top of the shoulder blade. The acromion can be felt as a small bump on top of the shoulder. Various muscles and tendons run beneath the acromion. These muscles enable the arm to be lifted, for example.
You have broken the top of your shoulder blade. If someone has broken bones in the shoulder/upper arm area, it can be painful. You may then be unable to move your shoulder or arm properly.
