T26.1: Burn of cornea and conjunctival sac
You have burned the cornea and the conjunctiva in the eye.
The cornea is located at the front of the eye. It is transparent and curved. The curvature focuses light in the eye. This is vital to be able to see clearly. The transparent conjunctiva covers the eye and the inside of the eyelids. Along with the tears, the conjunctiva forms a liquid film on the eye. Together, the conjunctiva, the eyelids, and the liquid film on the eye all protect the eye from external agents. The conjunctiva also helps defend against pathogens.
In your case, tissue was damaged by high temperatures. For example, you can get burned by fire, electricity or certain rays.
The symptoms from a burn depend on how badly the tissue was damaged. The affected tissue may be red and swollen. Sometimes blisters or open wounds form. The tissue may die off, as well. Severe illness is possible. If the damaged tissue scars, there may be permanent problems.
Your eye was damaged. You may not be able see correctly anymore. Even blindness is possible.
