T40.5: Poisoning: Cocaine

You have cocaine poisoning.

Cocaine is an agent obtained from the leaves of the coca plant. Cocaine is a drug and has a highly stimulating effect on the body.

A substance can cause poisoning if, for example, too much of it is taken. The substance may also be administered or taken by mistake.

Cocaine poisoning can cause nervousness or panic, for example. You can twitch and sweat. The pupils are typically dilated. The heart can race and blood pressure can rise. You may see or hear things that are not there. Seizures may also occur. The person may have a heart attack or stroke, too.
