T43.6: Poisoning: Psychostimulants with abuse potential

You have been poisoned by a substance that acts as a stimulant.

Such substances can be certain medications such as Ritalin, for example. They also include certain drugs such as speed, ecstasy and crystal meth. These substances can stimulate thinking and improve concentration, for example. They also act as a stimulant on the body, and they can lead to addiction.

A substance can cause poisoning if, for example, too much of it is taken. The substance may also be administered or taken by mistake.

Poisoning by a stimulant can make you restless, for example. You can also become anxious. Your heart may beat rapidly and your blood pressure might rise. You may hear or see things that are not there. You may also have seizures.
