You have inflammation of a superficial or closed wound.
An injury or an insect bite can cause a superficial or closed wound. A closed wound may be a contusion or bruise, for example.
If a wound has become inflamed, the affected area can swell up and be painful. The wound may also feel hot. The skin around the wound may be red.
