T88.2: Shock due to anaesthesia

An anesthetic has caused you to have circulatory problems.

Anesthetics are medications used for operations, for example. The anesthetics prevent you from feeling pain. Some anesthetics also send you to sleep. You were given an anesthetic.

The anesthetic has caused you to have severe circulatory problems. The circulatory system consists of the heart and the blood vessels. The heart pumps blood through the body. In the process, the blood flows through blood vessels. The blood supplies all areas of the body with oxygen and nutrients. When you have severe circulatory problems, some areas of your body no longer get enough blood. Your blood pressure is then typically too low.
