U55.11: On waiting list for heart transplant: With U [urgency] or HU [high urgency] status
You are waiting for a heart from another person.
The heart pumps blood through the body. In the process, the blood flows through blood vessels. The blood supplies all areas of the body with oxygen and nutrients.
Sometimes vital organs no longer work properly. There can be a variety of reasons for that. The affected people can be helped with a properly functioning replacement organ. The appropriate organ or tissue can be donated by other people. The donor organ or donor tissue has to be removed surgically.
You need a heart urgently. This is why you have been given priority on the waiting list for organ donation. Certain requirements had to be met for that.
