U55.20: On waiting list for lung transplant: Without U [urgency] or HU [high urgency] status

You are waiting for a lung from another person.

You need lungs to breath. When we breathe in, oxygen enters the lungs and accumulates in the blood. This blood then flows to the heart. The heart then pumps the oxygen-rich blood throughout the body. All of the organs are supplied with oxygen as a result.

Sometimes vital organs no longer work properly. There can be a variety of reasons for that. The affected people can be helped with a properly functioning replacement organ. The appropriate organ or tissue can be donated by other people. The donor organ or donor tissue has to be removed surgically.

You need a lung. For this reason, you were included on the waiting list for organ donation. Certain requirements had to be met for that.
