U55.30: On waiting list for heart and lung transplant: Without U [urgency] or HU [high urgency] status
You are waiting for a heart from another person.
The heart pumps blood through the body. In the process, the blood flows through blood vessels. The blood supplies all areas of the body with oxygen and nutrients.
You need lungs to breath. When we breathe in, oxygen enters the lungs and accumulates in the blood. This blood then flows to the heart. The heart then pumps the oxygen-rich blood throughout the body. All of the organs are supplied with oxygen as a result.
Sometimes vital organs no longer work properly. There can be a variety of reasons for that. The affected people can be helped with a properly functioning replacement organ. The appropriate organ or tissue can be donated by other people. The donor organ or donor tissue has to be removed surgically.
You need a heart and a lung. For this reason, you were included on the waiting list for organ donation. Certain requirements had to be met for that.
