Z01.81: Investigation of a disposition for cardiomyopathies
You were tested because you may have an elevated risk of a disease of your myocardium.
The myocardium refers to the layer of muscle in the wall of the heart. The heart pumps blood through the body. In the process, the blood flows through blood vessels. The blood supplies all areas of the body with oxygen and nutrients. The heart normally beats steadily and at a particular speed.
If the myocardium is diseased, the heart may no longer pump the blood well. Certain factors can increase the risk of disease in the myocardium. These factors include, for example, other illnesses and a hereditary tendency.
