Z12.0: Special screening examination for neoplasm of stomach
A special examination was carried out on your stomach.
The stomach is located in the upper left abdomen. The stomach stores food and breaks it down further. Harmful pathogens are also killed by gastric acid in the stomach. The stomach thus prepares the food for digestion in the intestines.
The examination was to see whether you have a tumor disease. The tissue in the body is made up of cells. A tumor disorder involves the cells multiplying more than normal. This results in abnormal or excess tissue forming. A tumor can be benign or malignant. Pieces of tissue may be examined, for example. It is also possible that your stomach will have been looked at from inside.
