Z45.02: Adjustment and management of cardiac support system

The settings on your heart pump or artificial heart were checked or adjusted.

The heart pumps blood through the body. In the process, the blood flows through blood vessels. The blood supplies all areas of the body with oxygen and nutrients.

Your heart or parts of your heart are not working properly. Because of that, you have a device that assists your heart with pumping. Your blood should thus flow through your body better. This kind of device may be a heart pump or artificial heart, for example. A heart pump may be located on the inside or outside of the body.

For example, it is possible to adjust how much blood the device pumps or how quickly the artificial heart beats.
