1-203.1:

Neurological assessments: Invasive assessment of nervous system function: With Spinal Cord Stimulation

The functioning of your nervous system has been examined.

The nervous system consists of very many individual nerve cells. The nervous system includes all the nerves in the body, as well as the brain and the spinal cord. The nerves run from the brain and spinal cord into the body. They convey information in the body.

Your spinal cord was given a stimulus so that certain of your nervous system functions could be examined. To do this, electrodes were introduced onto or into your spinal cord. Electrodes may be small metal plates or thin wires, for example. The nerve cells in the spinal cord can be stimulated by small electrical currents. The electrodes can send currents like these to the spinal cord.
